It looks like the US elections had an unusual casualty. The Kickstarter campaign for an upcoming Harry Potter board game has been cancelled and the publishers claim that it was all due to the recent electoral campaign in the United States.
Harry Potter: Catch the Snitch was intended to be a recreation of the Quidditch game in miniature. However, the board game's publishers Knight Games decided to cancel the Kickstarter campaign for an unexpected reason.
In the statement posted on the Kickstarter page, the Knight Games team that "the current situation of uncertainty in the world derived from the electoral campaign in the United States, is negatively affecting" their campaign. It also points out that the elections are "generating many technical problems on the web and freezing our communication strategy plan."
"We reiterate our apologies, but the gravity of the current situation forces us to take this pause to be able to come out with a stronger start and bring Harry Potter's universe to all of you, who are the meaning of our efforts," the statement concludes.
Interestingly, the Kickstarter was looking to raise $450,000 to fund the board game's release. However, it had only brought in $64,000 at the time of cancellation.
Harry Potter: Catch the Snitch was originally set to retail for $120.
