Halle Berry recently expressed her interest in playing Catwoman again decades after starring in the maligned 2004 film.
The Oscar winner notably played the iconic DC character in the 2004 titular solo movie that was panned by critics and audiences. For years, it had a reputation for being one of the worst comic book movies of all time.
Despite its unflattering legacy, Berry still has a huge passion for the character and opened up about her love for playing the role. It has also become a cult classic for some fans who have defended it from its detractors.
Halle Berry Wants to Play Catwoman Again
In a recent red-carpet interview promoting her new film The Union, Berry reflected on her portrayal of Catwoman in the 2004 movie.
She revealed that she is open to getting another shot at playing the DC character as she believed that the reception to the first film was "unfair."
"I would bring back Catwoman, if I really got a chance to. I think what happened to her the first time around was unfair. I think she's way underrated, and I would love to give it another shot," the Oscar winner said.
This is not the first time that Berry recently addressed her potential return in a superhero role.
She revealed that she was interested in reprising the role of Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine, but Ryan Reynolds never asked her to appear in the film.
While there are fans who would have loved to see Berry play Catwoman again, it is very unlikely that it would happen since the 2004 film has been famously maligned and Warner Bros. won't see any reason to bring back that world.
DC Studios is more focused on introducing their version of the character in the DCU, and they might not be interested in doing a multiversal-type storyline anytime soon.
