Haikyuu Timeline Explained
Let’s go back in time and trace the important events that have happened so far in the anime adaptation of Haikyuu.
It all began in January 2008, when 11-year-old Hinata Shoyo witnessed the Little Giant making waves in the Spring Tournament on TV.
This marks the beginning of Hinata’s dreams to follow in the footsteps of the Little Giant.
Fast forward to May 2011, and Hinata comes face-to-face with Kageyama Tobio and experiences defeat for the very first time.
The following year, 2012, Hinata enrolls at Karasuno, where he reunites with Kageyama. They are now teammates playing on the same side of the court.
2012 was a very eventful year for Hinata and Karasuno, as they held a practice match with Aoba Johsai in April and with Nekoma High in May.
June came, and Karasuno lost to Aoba Johsai during the Interhigh Preliminaries.
Karasuno's journey didn’t stop there, as they left for the Tokyo training camp the following month.
Karasuno successfully defeats Johzenji, Wakutani Minami, Aoba Johsai, and even the formidable Shiratorizawa Academy in October of the same year.
Afterward, the All-Japan Youth Training Camp and the Miyagi Prefecture First Years Training Camp happened in December.
2013 marks the beginning of the Spring Nationals Tournament as Karasuno leaves for Tokyo.
So, Where Does the Haikyuu Final Movie Fit into the Timeline?
The final movie of the beloved sports anime is titled Haikyuu The Movie: A Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump. It is a direct continuation of the events that happened after the fourth season of the anime.
The first of the two full-length films continues after Karasuno defeats Inarizaki High and the Miya brothers in the Spring Nationals tournament.
The anime ended in chapter 293 of the manga series, and the film begins in chapter 294, The Dumpster Battle.
The Dumpster Battle starts the official match between rivals Karasuno and Nekoma.
The final movie will adapt the rest of the remaining chapters in the manga series. Hence, fans can expect to see the timeskip that happened later on.
