The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All revolves around a high school girl who has a huge crush on another girl she mistakenly believes is a handsome and cool guy.
The story begins with Aya Oosawa, a 17-year-old girl who enjoys rock music but lacks a suitable clique to share her hobbies with. She tried to share it with her friends, but they weren't interested at all.
Aya frequents a record shop, where she meets the biggest crush of her life. Her crush is one of those cool boys who looks bored but exudes mystery just like in many romance anime or movies.
One day, when Aya’s hair got hooked up in her headphones, her crush suddenly entangled it without asking her content. It made Aya happy and embarrassed, so she had to share it with her friends the next school day.
What Aya was unaware of was that her female seatmate, Mitsuki Koga, was the same person as her crush.
When Mitsuki overhears Aya chatting about her crush, she instantly devises a scheme to reveal her true identity. Unfortunately, things don't go her way.

Sumiko Arai confirmed the good news in an announcement on X (previously Twitter), as well as a list of other countries that have produced or are currently developing translated versions of the yuri manga in their various languages:
In addition to the upcoming English release, the yuri manga will be translated into Chinese, Italian, Polish, South Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
However, the announcement did not include an official release date, so fans will have to keep an eye out for additional news and details.

Based on the release dates of the yuri manga's translated copies in other countries, we expect the English release date by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
There are a lot of internal and external factors that affect manga releases, such as Arai's negotiations with the English publishing company, so hopefully, we'll be able to hear further announcements in the coming weeks.
