Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista Has Hinted About James Gunn Rehiring All Along

Fans are rejoicing following the announcement that James Gunn has been rehired to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but one person who might not be surprised about it is Dave Bautista.

Writer Anthony Breznican took to Twitter to recall his interview with the Drax the Destroyer actor, realizing that he has been dropping some major hints on the surprise news about Gunn's return to Marvel.

"I think a lot of people who even made the decisions, they realized they made a harsh, rash decision that was probably not the best decision," the wrestling superstar said. "He feels that they've done right by him, or as best as they could have," he went on to say.

Bautista also teased that Gunn is "bouncing back, big time" and that in the next six to eight months, the director will be back in a major way, "which is gonna be a huge statement and real vindication." It turns out he may have been referring to Disney's reversal of their decision all along. Check out Breznican's Twitter thread below:

Although the Guardians of the Galaxy cast were shocked about Gunn's removal, Bautista was the most vocal about what he believed was an unfair treatment to the filmmaker. He believes that he didn't deserve what happened to him.

For those who don't know, Gunn was fired back in July last year after old offensive tweets that make light of pedophilia and rape were unearthed.

With the #MeToo movement at its height when it happened, Disney was quick to take action, removing him from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He received outpouring support from fans ever since and was even tapped by Warner Bros. Pictures to direct Suicide Squad 2.

The franchise's fate was in limbo following his firing, but now that he is back on board, it looks like fans will see more of the guardians of the galaxy after all. It will be interesting to see who ends up in the team because last time we checked, it's only just Rocket now.
