Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is finally out in theaters worldwide. Unlike the previous MCU film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the critical reception for the titular team's final movie has been mostly positive with some even highlighting it as one of the strongest post-Endgame MCU movies.
Given Quantumania's underwhelming box office, there is a lot of hope that the new film will turn things around again and keep the franchise's box office record back on track to its usual numbers.
Fortunately, it looks like that is going to be the case as Deadline reported that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is off to a strong start at the international box office as it already grossed $35 million from Wednesday to Thursday in 47 markets.
The social scores have also been very strong. A notable example is in South Korea as the film's Naver and Egg scores were higher than some of the recent MCU films such as Quatumania and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films.
The audience response in China has also been positive as it received a Maoyan score of 9.4 which is the highest ever for any MCU film released in the country. It also already earned an impressive $7 million despite the competition with the local films and is expected to have an opening weekend gross of $25 million.
The film is also number one in all Latin American markets. In Europe, it is also getting high social scores like in France where it is well ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The audience score on Rotten Tomatoes is also already out and, as of the writing of this article, it already has a 96% score which is an indication that a lot of the general public and fans like the film.
It is certainly exciting to see that the new MCU film has a strong box office start since it is a good sign about its results in the next few weeks, especially if the word-of-mouth will also be strong and more audience will be enticed to check out the movie.
