Guardians of the Galaxy Director James Gunn Ranks the Iron Man and Thor Films

It's always interesting seeing what directors think of movies they didn't direct since those people have the first-hand experience in making this art form. Recently, James Gunn was asked by fans how he would rank movies in a trilogy and the Guardians of the Galaxy director decided to rank Iron Man and Thor. This is a pretty ballsy move since Gunn is still in the MCU and is going to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Gunn went for a pretty logical route, ranking Iron Man like this (1,3,2) and rating Thor like this (3,1,2). To be honest, this is how most people feel about these movies since Iron Man 2 tried too hard to emulate the first film and Thor: The Dark World was pretty generic but had a few nifty fight scenes. Thor: Ragnarok and Iron Man are clearly the best films in their trilogies.

We can't wait for Gunn to conclude his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy since it's going to be really hard ranking it. The first and second films are pretty neck-and-neck to me, with the original Guardians feeling more fresh while the sequel had much better character development. It's going to be tough ranking them unless Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is trash but I doubt that.

No proper release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been announced. Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are now available on digital platforms and Disney+.
