A slew of original cast members is expected to return to Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

Ellen Pompeo will reprise her role as Dr. Meredith Grey. And big things are in store for her character.

In Season 17, Meredith was mostly attached to her hospital bed after she was diagnosed with COVID-19.

The majority of Pompeo's scenes in Season 17 were also filmed at the hospital and on the beach.

While at the latter, Meredith reunited with some of her deceased loved ones like Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Dr. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane), George O'Malley (T.R. Knight), and more.

After recovering from the deadly virus, Meredith returned to the hospital. As such, fans can expect to see her working her magic on her patients in Season 18.

Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. will also return to Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

Wilson plays the role of Dr. Miranda Bailey, while Pickens Jr. plays the role of Dr. Richard Webber.

Other series regulars that will return to Season 18 include Camilla Luddington as Jo Wilson, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Kelly McCreary as Maggie Pierce, Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd, Jake Borelli as Levi Schmitt, and more.

Kate Walsh just announced her return to Grey's Anatomy Season 18 as Dr. Addison Forbes Montgomery.

The actress shared the exciting news via the official Instagram account for the hit TV series.

Walsh's character was first introduced in Season 1 as Derek's surprise wife.

Addison was featured in multiple episodes until Season 3 before she left the series to headline the Grey's Anatomy spinoff, Private Practice.

Peter Gallagher has also been cast to appear in Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

The actor will play the role of Dr. Alan Hamilton, who knew Meredith's late mother, Ellis (Kate Burton) from back in the day.

According to Variety, Gallagher's character will be featured in the premiere episode.

Veteran actress Burton will also return to Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

Is there hope for Sandra Oh to return?

For now, it seems unlikely for fans to see Dr. Cristina Yang in Grey's Anatomy.

Even though several cast members have been returning to the TV series, Oh confirmed that she has no plans to follow in their footsteps.

"I left that show, my God, seven years ago almost. So in my mind, it's gone. But for a lot of people, it's still very much alive. And while I understand and I love it, I have moved on," she said.

Even though this may be disheartening for Oh's fans, they still have a lot of exciting storylines to look forward to when Grey's Anatomy Season 18 premieres this month.
