The eighth season of Game of Thrones has not been doing so well among fans and critics. There have been so many complaints about the series' pace and unearned storytelling decisions, forcing fans to take action by writing a petition to see the final season of the fantasy epic remade with a new team of screenwriters.
The petition has been gaining a lot of traction online with more than a million fans adding their signature to the cause. Responding to the all the ire against the latest season of HBO's fantasy epic, Game of Thrones' Daenerys Targaryen admits that she would also love to see a few tweaks in the series' last batch of episodes.
Speaking in an interview with The New Yorker, Emilia Clarke talks about all the disappointment fans have been expressing on social media.
"Oh, my goodness," Clarke admitted, "Well, I can only speak to my own character and the people that I interact with on the show. But I would've loved some more scenes with me and Missandei. I would've loved some more scenes with me and Cersei."
However, while the actress says she would have loved to see more scenes between other characters like Grey Worm and Missandei and Cersei, she defends the writers' decision for "The Bells" explaining that the "genocide was always there. That was always going to happen."
Clarke is right when she says that Dany was always capable of genocide. However, it would have been better if the writers had taken their time to properly transition the character from a loved hero of the masses into the Mad Queen that they intend her to be.
Game of Thrones season 8 just aired its finale on HBO.
