Goo Kyo Hwan's new drama follows the story of archaeologist Jung Ki Hoon, who is determined to go after unknown monstrous cases.
It came after a town was embroiled in a disaster after discovering a mysterious statue of the Buddha, who others believed was possessed by an evil spirit.
Amid the terror enveloping the neighborhood, Ko Hoon was joined by his wife, Lee Soo Jin, portrayed by Shin Hyun Been.
She is a pattern cryptanalyst who is willing to investigate a bizarre occurrence in the village.
As Goo Kyo Hwan revealed details regarding the upcoming series, the actor spoke about what it's like working alongside the actress.
The actor praised Shin Hyun Been for her great sense of humor.
He tells Harper's Bazaar Korea that it made him deliver the scenes well and be comfortable around his female lead.
"The humor made the scene very comfortable because she was considerate of the other person," he said and revealed that she would "joke a lot during the waiting time.
As tvN gears up for the much-awaited premiere of Monstrous, the network released a sneak peek of the duo as a couple.
It exudes great chemistry between the two as they portray husband and wife.
As noted by Xports News, Goo Kyo Hwan described his female lead as "an actress who always fills the set with warmth," adding that Shin Hyun Bin makes him "feel at peace," especially when he's nervous.
Meanwhile, the actress confessed that there were difficulties filming the K-drama, but they were able to "film comfortably and joyfully because ofGoo Kyo Hwan's humor, ideas, and thoughtfulness."

While tvN is set to release his upcoming K-drama, Goo Kyo Hwan will reprise his role as a military soldier in Netflix's D.P season 2.
He will be reunited with fellow lead star Jung Hae In, playing private soldier Ahn Joon Ho.
To recall, the action-comedy series focuses on the lives of Korean military police and their mission to catch deserters.
