The Benoit Blanc sequel had a short release in theaters, only being on the big screen for a few days, and even so, it got more box office than expected. Nearing its Netflix release already, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery producer claims that they lost millions due to a hilarious reason that didn't even go through.

Even with the short release of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery in theaters, the box office return of the sequel of Benoit Blanc still showed promise and while some are baffled as to why the haste especially with its Netflix release coming up just a month after the theatrical run, many are already excited for it.

Surprisingly, speaking with Insider, Ram Bergman, producer of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, joked about the sequel losing millions of dollars for a hilarious reason, and that isn't even the reason why the movie only got a short run in theaters.

Bergman revealed, "Every star had to have their own trailer and I thought the actors were never going to go to their trailers, I guaranteed it, they'll want to hang with each other and that's what happened on both movies."

Bergman further explained, "I lost millions of dollars for all the trailers because they never went in them, but it starts from the top with Rian, everyone gets along so well."

In a recent investors call of Netflix, it was revealed why Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery only had a week-long run in theaters then it comes out of the streaming platform in just a month after it comes out on the big screen.

During the investors call, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos explained, "First I'll tell you: we're in the business of entertaining our members, with Netflix movies on Netflix. So that's where we focus all of our energy and most of our spends."

Sarandos further revealed, "Our films are always heavily featured in film festivals around the world. Because they're in demand, made by the greatest filmmakers on the planet. For all those folks who can't get to a city where a festival is, this one-week release on 600 screens is a way of creating access to the film and building buzz – the same thing we're doing at festivals."

Sarandos provides a new perspective on the Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery releasing on Netflix immediately after the theatrical run, "I would look at this as another way to build anticipation for the film and build buzz and reputation for the film, ahead of its Netflix release."

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery follows a new case that Benoit Blanc will be investigating a murder that baffled everyone who are invited to a private island by a tech billionaire Miles Bron.

The cast of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery includes Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay, Leslie Odom Jr. as Lionel Toussaint, Janelle Monáe as Cassandra "Andi" Brand, Dave Bautista as Duke Cody, Edward Norton as Miles Bron, Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella, Madelyn Cline as Whiskey, Jessica Henwick as Peg, and Ethan Hawke in an undisclosed role.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be arriving on Netflix with a new mystery on December 23, 2022.
