The hosts are now revealed for the 2021 MBC Music Festival, and Kpop fans are now excited for more details about the upcoming show.
On December 1, MBC has unveiled the celebrities who will lead the prestigious event. Girls’ Generation visual YoonA and 2PM Lee Junho will join forces alongside TV personality Jang Sung Kyu to host the forthcoming 2021 MBC Music Festival.
The MBC Music Festival is an annual end-of-the-year music show in South Korea, hosted by MBC or Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation, one of the major broadcast networks in the country.
Starting its event in 1966, it was originally held as a singing competition called MBC Ten Singers Competition. It was first broadcasted live on MBC Radio until it transferred to national television in 1970.
The event continued until 2005 after it was boycotted by the national audience and several artists in 2004. It was then renamed the MBC Music Festival or MBC Gayo Daejejeon in 2005.
Girls’ Generation YoonA To Host The 2021 MBC Music Festival For 7 Consecutive Years
Returning on December 31, 2015, the MBC Gayo Daejejeon was first hosted by Girls’ Generation YoonA and announcer Kim Sung Joo. Since then, the MBC Music Festival has become an annual music celebration where many celebrities come together to present never before seen performances.
This includes collaborations between the artists such as special stages, which fans of several idol groups and singers are always looking forward to.
Now, for the seventh consecutive year, YoonA will be hosting the MBC Music Festival alongside Jang Sung Kyu and fellow idol star 2PM’s Junho.
YoonA has starred in the Korean romantic film Miracle: Letters to the President opposite Park Jeong Min. She is also scheduled to appear in the new Kdrama Big Mouth with actor Lee Jong Suk.
On the other hand, Junho is leading the historical romance Kdrama The Red Sleeve with actress Lee Se Young. The series is currently airing on a Friday and Saturday evening time slot. At the same time, Jang Sung Kyu will continue hosting the MBC Music Festival after the last two events with YoonA.
The 2021 MBC Music Festival is set to take place on December 31, 2021, and is assumed to be held through online streaming or with only minimal audiences on site.
