Former The Mandalorian star Gina Carano has opened up about her controversial firing from the Star Wars series.

In early 2021, the MMA star-turned-actress was infamously fired by Lucasfilm from her involvement in the Star Wars franchise over her controversial social media posts.

Last month, she filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm for discrimination and wrongful termination and sought compensatory damages. X owner Elon Musk is shouldering the legal bills.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Carano opened up candidly about her firing from The Mandalorian and shared what she felt during the time when she heard the news.

"I just laid down and cried and cried. I curled into a fetal position. It’s not that I didn’t think that something like that could happen," she recalled.

"It was that I couldn’t imagine they would put out this horrendous statement about me after working with me — the most powerful entertainment company in the world saying that about me."

The Cara Dune actress also discussed Musk's support on her lawsuit and how he became her "guardian angel."

"I think it’s pretty incredible what he is doing. A lot of billionaires put their money into buying islands and building bunkers. Elon Musk is using his money to fight massive injustice battle," she said.

In terms of her lack of a major Hollywood job since the firing, Carano said, "You become unhirable. And then it becomes OK for other people to disrespect you. And then you’re just carrying around this disrespect, and you’re shouldering all this shame, and it affects your physicality, your mentality."

So far, Disney has not laid out an extensive comment on the lawsuit with the exception of a one-word response from CEO Bob Iger.

"That was a wise answer. I think he’s a very smart man. I know that he’s probably dealing with a lot right now. And so I think just by saying the simple word that he said, I think that was wisdom," Carano said about Iger's one-word comment.

The report noted that the company has until April 9 to respond to the legal petition.
