George Lucas Snuck Onto Game of Thrones Set To Improve Star Wars’ Storytelling

It might sound a bit surprising considering how popular and massive the Star Wars franchise is, but it looks like Star Wars creator George Lucas has been sneaking onto the set of Game of Thrones to take a few notes from the phenomenal fantasy epic.

Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) just recently spoke in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, and during his discussion with the entertainment news site, the actor decided to spill Lucas' secrets.

According to Cunnigham, the Star Wars creator sneaked on to the set of Game of Thrones once or twice just to see how the series does its storytelling.

"It's funny because George came here and talked to the boys, and the one thing the Star Wars franchise has been missing lately is decent storytelling," the actor revealed. "There's a lot of brilliant stuff in Star Wars, it's an epic franchise, but occasionally, story-wise, it's left a little to be desired."

Sure, Lucas may no longer be in charge of the Star Wars franchise, but Lucasfilm still very much respects the Star Wars creator's opinions on its films and other Star Wars projects. There's nothing wrong with Lucas snooping around trying to better his galaxy far, far away.

It's also worth noting that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have both been tapped to work on their own Star Wars film series for Lucasfilm, so it's also possible that the two have been giving Lucas a tour of the place.

"Dan and David are brilliant at surprises and can transfer the demographic from this show to that (Star Wars)," Cunningham went on. "They're incredible at adapting a world and making it their own and they could add a layer of complexity to it. I'd love it if they gave me some words to say, though I'd probably just be in a helmet."

Cunningham shouldn't give up though. Davos is after all, a fan-favorite character in Game of Thrones. Weiss and Benioff might want to have the same kind of charm in their new Star Wars film series.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO for its eighth and final season on April 14.
