Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo recently revealed that Star Wars became his "first obsession in life." Now that he has officially made his debut in the galaxy far, far away via LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, he shares how the franchise pushed him to pursue his career.

Gaten Matarazzo Shares How Star Wars Became His First Obsession

Anybody can be a fan of something, but to Broadway Musical and Honor Society star Gaten Matarazzo, Star Wars goes beyond merch-collecting. If anything, it's the foundation of what brought him to the screens.

"[Star Wars] is the reason that I developed a love for cinema as a whole," the star explained, "It was my first actual obsession in life."

Matarazzo added how the franchise is the first thing he "sunk his teeth into" that really "started to become a whole personality."

The 22-year-old star recalled how he expressed his Star Wars heart as early as the age of seven, "I remember I would just walk around school with a padawan braid, and I've got a drunken tattoo. It's a real cornerstone of my love for art [and] anything that has to do with being a nerd as a whole..."

Ultimately, as Gaten declared, "It will always be probably the biggest chunk of my heart for cinema as a whole."

This is probably why the actor finds it easier to portray the protagonist, Sig Greebling the nerf-herder in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, which, as he stated, "So I was like, this is already me" and how "it wasn't much of a stretch" getting into the character behind the scenes.

What also made Rebuild the Galaxy fun for him was that the show feels like a "satire of Multiverse TV that goes down a completely absurd rabbit hole that could never possibly happen in the Star Wars show."
