Game Of Thrones Star Emilia Clarke Was Originally Cast In Iron Man 3

She might be known for playing the beautiful (but deadly) Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones but Emilia Clarke almost became a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has just been revealed that Clarke was originally cast in Iron Man 3 but her role was inexplicably written out.

The revelation comes from Drew Pearce, who co-wrote the screenplay for the third Iron Man film with director Shane Black. Pearce's recent Instagram post confirms that he stood in for JARVIS during an early table read of the script and that Clarke was in attendance. Take a look at his post below.

"My finest hour: at an early Iron Man Three table read. Downey, Cheadle, Emilia Clarke (long story, the script changed)... all vaguely terrifying. Obviously this was in 2012 when everyone was more racist and thought all British people sounded the same. Still, belated apologies to @paulbettany and I hope I didn't let him down," Pearce wrote before adding the hashtags #fbf and #IronManThree.

The reveal certainly had people wondering who Clarke would have played in the MCU flick. Some believed that she could have been cast as Maya Hansen, who was played by Rebecca Hall in the film. However, it is possible that the Solo: A Star Wars Story actress was reading for a completely different character who could have played a bigger role in the movie.

We're certainly loving the idea of Clarke sharing some screentime with Robert Downey Jr. and joining the MCU. Although it didn't work out this time, there's still a possibility that Clarke could get cast in a Marvel film in the future.
