People have their own theories about how the Battle of Winterfell is going to take place and who will end up dead in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3. But is it possible that we will also get to see a character from A Song of Ice and Fire that fans have been hoping to show up for some time? Some believe that Lady Stoneheart (or at least some version of the character) will make an appearance this Sunday and is set to terrorize Arya Stark.
Lady Stoneheart hardly needs an introduction for book readers but Game of Thrones viewers have a lot to learn about the character. In the books, she is the resurrected Catelyn Stark who was brought back by Beric Dondarrion and becomes the leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners.
So how will Lady Stoneheart suddenly show up in this weekend's episode? It's pretty simple, really. Fans believe that the Night King will resurrect all the dead people in the Winterfell crypt and this could include all the Starks who are buried down there. This should include Catelyn and even a headless Ned Stark.
The idea of Lady Stoneheart (or just a Catelyn wight, anyway) is truly a terrifying one especially for the surviving Starks. This should explain why Arya appears to be running in fear in the halls of Winterfell. After all, even a trained assassin would be horrified with the thought that their dead parent is trying to kill them, right?
It's certainly an idea fit for Game of Thrones but one that we're not certain could happen. After all, George R.R. Martin has already stated that the show will not bring in Lady Stoneheart into the story. Perhaps the Night King has other plans this weekend and Arya is simply trying to escape some other villain. For now, we recommend taking this with a grain of salt.
Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 has not yet been given an official title. The episode will premiere on HBO on April 28.
