Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 Releases Battle Of Winterfell Photos

The Night King's army is almost here and HBO has just released the first photos from Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3. Although we'd like to remain hopeful about what will happen next Sunday, the pictures are depressingly bleak.

The cast and crew of Game of Thrones Season 8 have made no secret about how the third episode will feature a massive battle. Some have even pointed out that it will be bigger than the Battle of Helm's Deep in the third Lord of the Rings movie Return of the King. Although we have yet to see the actual fight in itself, the images of the beloved characters looking distressed should be enough for now.

The Stark sisters share a look and Sansa Stark is noticeably horrified. Has she just seen what the White Walkers and wights look like? Or is she realizing that they are up against something greater than just undead people?

There's another look at Sansa where she appears to have been crying. Some believe this may have been taken after the battle and she is looking at all the casualties around her.

Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are shown looking down at Winterfell as the army of the dead approaches. They appear to be safely away from the battle, or are they? This seems to be the same scene where Dany tells Jon, "The dead are already here," in the trailer.

Varys and Tyrion Lannister are hidden away in the Winterfell crypt. This could be an interesting conversation to look forward to this Sunday.

Jon looks shocked by what he sees. Could this be when he encounters the Night King yet again?

Here's the most depressing shot so far. Brienne of Tarth leads the Knights of the Vale along with Jaime Lannister. From the look on Jaime's face, they could be up against something they can't handle.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 will air on HBO on April 28.
