It looks like even dragons are not immune to an ongoing pandemic. The Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon had to put production on hold as a crew member has tested positive for COVID-19.
Deadline reports that production on House of the Dragon has been halted for two days due to a positive case in "zone A, which includes cast and crew." It was confirmed that "a production member tested positive and in compliance with industry guidelines, will isolate and close contacts are required to quarantine." However, filming is expected to resume by Wednesday, July 21.
For now, only one member of the crew is confirmed to be positive for COVID-19. The rest of the cast and crew appear to be safe if they are set to resume working so soon. Needless to say, we're hoping that safety protocols are always in place on the set.
House of the Dragon started production in April as we saw an awesome photo of the main cast gathered for a read-through. Interestingly, the cast members are shown wearing masks and keeping their distance from each other. Hopefully, these kinds of safety measures continue to be practiced on the set.
The Game of Thrones prequel will star Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, and Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The series has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is already expected to premiere on HBO in 2022.
