Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke Says She was Pushed Into Doing Nudity ‘For the Fans’

Emilia Clarke was probably one of the biggest stars to ever come out of Game of Thrones, but everyone remembers how the earlier seasons had her doing a lot more nudity compared to the final ones. As it turns out Clarke admits that she was kind of forced into doing the scenes in order not to ‘disappoint the fans'.

Talking to Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast(via Vulture), Clarke opens up, "I've had fights on set before where I'm like, ‘No, the sheet stays up,' and they're like, ‘You don't wanna disappoint your Game of Thrones fans.' And I'm like, ‘F*ck you.'"

Clarke goes on to talk about how clueless she felt on the set, what with being a new actress. She says, "I'm floating through this first season and I have no idea what I'm doing; I have no idea what any of this is… I've never been on a film set like this before, I'd been on a film set twice before then, and I'm now on a film set completely naked with all of these people, and I don't know what I'm meant to do."

Luckily for Clarke, she got a lot of support from Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo) to vocalize when she felt that nudity became too gratuitous for her. If anything, it sort of worked. She did a lot less nudity in the latter seasons, and whenever she did end up naked, it was only for relevant scenes in the show.

Game of Thrones may be done now, but HBO is set to release the spinoff House of the Dragon in a few years.
