Game of Thrones Documentary to Air After the Finale

Game of Thrones has grown to be one of the biggest shows on HBO, and everything is set to end with the eighth season coming out next month. What's interesting is, HBO actually has a Game of Thrones documentary in the works, and it's set to screen a week after the finale episode.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the documentary is titled Game of Thrones: The Last Watch and it comes from Jeanie Finlay and it will run for two hours. The documentary is said to focus on the making of the final season, but I think there's a lot of content that's going to be shown from earlier Thrones days as well.

HBO had this to say about the documentary:

"[The film] delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland … Much more than a ‘making of' documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it."

With shows like Star Trek Discovery and The Walking Dead having after-show discussions, I don't think it's too strange for something like Game of Thrones to have a documentary made to screen after the finale. Heck, even movies come out with BTS documentaries now. I guess it's just some extra fun for the fans who may go in relapse after saying goodbye to a decade-long running show.

Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is set to air on May 26. Game of Thrones 8 comes out April 14 on HBO.
