Game of Thrones Cinematographer Speaks Out on Battle of Winterfell's Lighting

While the most recent Game of Thrones episode has been mostly praised, a lot of people did criticize the lighting since many thought it was too dark to comprehend. This wasn't too bad for some since they felt that it made the Battle of Winterfell more immersive and dramatic but others thought it was too hard to see what was going on.

Both sides have their points but cinematographer Fabian Wagner told TMZ that he was there when the massive battle was shot and insists that it isn't too dark. In fact, Wagner personally shot some of the scenes and feels like there is no way it would be too dark, though does think that HBO's decompression of the scene to show on televisions might have been the cause.

The cinematographer has suggested fixing your television settings or watching it in a dark environment since Game of Thrones has always been a pretty dark show. Apparently, checking the show out in a light environment makes it look worse than it should, though some people have to see it with light due to sight concerns or their conditions.

Seems like repeat viewings of this episode are going to be interesting. Still, there's no denying that it was a strong episode with some of the best moments in the show's history, which is saying a lot.

Game of Thrones is currently in its final season and has three episodes left.
