The final season of Game of Thrones will finally arrive next month, and fans of the epic fantasy series are wondering who will ultimately rule the Iron Throne. While some fans would like to see Daenerys or Jon Snow dethrone Cersei to rule the Seven Kingdoms, Game of Thrones actor Aidan Gillen, who played Littlefinger before being killed off, thinks that no one will actually win the Iron Throne.
During an interview with Express, Gillen said that he doesn't think anyone would ultimately rule the Iron Throne, because that would make for a "boring" turn of events.
"I don't picture that being a thing that's going to happen. It would be a bit boring. I don't know, I think initially that was the thing—there was a quest for an ultimate winner who was going to rule from the Iron Throne. But it doesn't feel that's what it's about any more. It could be that, and maybe that's the surprise ending and that's who it is. I don't know who it's going to be. Somebody nice!"
With the rising conflict against the White Walkers, it's likely that the "players" of the Game of Thrones won't have time to focus on taking over the Iron Throne. The final season will probably show that the Iron Throne wouldn't matter if an army of ice zombies are about to take over Westeros. Or maybe more than one person will end up ruling the Iron Throne. Maybe Daenerys and Jon Snow as the new king and queen? Or maybe also Tyrion Lannister will rule the Iron Throne along with them. Fortunately, Gillen confirmed that he doesn't know how the show will end.
Game of Thrones final season is set to premiere on HBO on April 14.
