Fullmetal Alchemist is Getting A 2-Part Live-Action Sequel

Fullmetal Alchemist, one of the greatest anime series of all time, is celebrating a big anniversary this year, and now, the franchise has announced a new project for its live-action Fullmetal Alchemist universe. The original live-action feature film based on the anime and manga series created by Hiromu Arakawa is getting a two-part sequel that will conclude the epic story of the Elric Brothers.

Over on Twitter, Fullmetal Alchemist shared the news by sharing a trailer for the two-part sequel, as you can see below, the clip features various characters not featured in the first live-action movie. The two films plan to finish adapting the original manga, so there's a lot of material to cover in the sequel.

The first Fullmetal Alchemist movie sequel will reportedly be released in Japan on May 20, and it will be titled Fullmetal Alchemist: Scar the Avenger. The second film is set to release on June 24 to wrap up the series, and it's titled Fullmetal Alchemist: The Final Alchemy.

The first Fullmetal Alchemist live-action movie was released in 2017. Directed by Fumihiko Sori, the movie adapts the first few arcs of Hiromu Arakawa's original manga. Back in July 2017, the director said that plans were being made for a sequel, but no updates about the project have been shared since. Now, we know that the two-part sequel will be released as part of Fullmetal Alchemist's 20th anniversary.

For those unfamiliar, there are two anime adaptations of Fullmetal Alchemist: Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The latter is considered to be the best adaptation as it adapts the manga accurately while the former features an original ending.
