The 92nd Academy Awards just took place last weekend, and it’s not without its special intermission numbers. Frozen’s Idina Menzel was actually brought in to sing the Oscar-nominated Into the Unknown live, and she did so with the rest of the world’s Elsas.

Here’s a list of the other actresses who provided the voice for Elsa in their countries: Maria Lucia Heiberg Rosenberg (Denmark), Willemijn Verkaik (Germany), Takako Matsu (Japan), Carmen Sarahí (Latin America), Lisa Stokke (Norway), Katarzyna Łaska (Poland), Anna Buturlina (Russia), Gisela (Spain), and Gam Wichayanee (Thailand). They also brought in singer AURORA who provides the mysterious voice in the film.
Just when you thought Idina Menzel had to give the performance her all, you realize that Disney actually had to hire a lot of different singers who can actually catch up to her range. While not everyone had their moment to shine on stage, I think it’s great that Disney is actually acknowledging the work that these other singers put into the film.
For now, it looks like Disney is putting the Frozen franchise to rest. I actually loved the film, and if a third movie should come out, I want the story to be handled with great care. Hopefully, we get a follow-up that completes the story of both Anna and Elsa.
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, she'll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.
Frozen II hits digital Feb. 11 and Blu-Ray/DVD on Feb. 25.
