One of the burning questions that fans have regarding the upcoming film Freakier Friday is whether Anna Coleman's high school garage band Pink Slip will return in the sequel.
Set more than 20 years after the events of the first film, it will bring back most of the cast and elements that we loved from the original and there are hopes that the band could play some role when we see Anna and Tess again.
Will the Pink Slip Return in Freakier Friday?
During her recent guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Lohan was asked whether the Pink Slip would be involved in Freakier Friday.
Fortunately, the actress confirmed that her character's high school garage band is somehow part of the sequel. She didn't share the details of what its role in the story will be.
"Pink Slip is back together, the band. Yes!" she revealed.
"We just finished [filming] in August. It’s just been such a labor of love to make happen. And Jamie [Lee Curtis] and I, even at the table read, we were just smiling so big. I don’t think we were acting well, because we were so happy. But the movie’s funny, it’s really funny."
This is an exciting update for fans who have been looking forward to the sequel since we have a confirmation that we will be seeing the Pink Slip perform again somehow and it is interesting to see them explain why the band is still active after all these years.
After all, we have seen in legacy sequels that bringing back familiar elements from the original is always part of the creative choice and fans would also support the idea.
When is Freakier Friday Coming Out?
Freakier Friday is currently slated for release in theaters on August 8, 2025. As Lohan mentioned, production took place last summer.
Aside from Lohan and Curtis, other returning cast members from the first film are Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
They are joined by newcomers in the franchise such as Manny Jacinto, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Jordan E. Cooper, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.
Fans should anticipate for the first trailer that will likely be released in the coming months.
