Fox’s New Mutants Reportedly Has Marvel’s Blessing

It's been a while since we've heard the news about 20^th Century Fox's New Mutants movies, but according to legendary comic book artist Bill Sienkiewicz, the movie is going to continue with the blessing of Marvel Studios.

There's been a long hold on New Mutants ever since Disney completed its acquisition of 21st Century Fox and the company's various film and television assets. However, the film's director Josh Boone has been teasing an upcoming trailer for the film, hinting that at the superhero horror movie is going to premiere despite the many delays.

Now, Bill Sienkiewicz reveals that he's actually seen the trailer that Boone's teased.

"Two days ago, I heard from Josh Boone, the director, and he sent me a new trailer," the comic book artist said in a recent appearance on Kevin Smith's Fatman Beyond podcast, "And they've been working, he's been working on it and everything, and it is phenomenal. I got chills."

That's pretty good news. We've been waiting for new footage from New Mutants since Fox released the film's teaser. But that's not all. Sienkiewicz also says that the film has Marvel's blessing.

"It looks like, because of the whole Disney-Fox -- I don't know if you want to call it merger, takeover, whatever... the Borg -- it's got the blessings of Marvel. And it feels more Marvel in terms of what they're doing, but also the horror elements of the film are in place. It's really, absolutely stellar, just what I've seen," the artist continued.

For those who haven't been following the news on the New Mutants, the film was originally set for release last year on April 13. However, the film was delayed to Feb. 22, 2019. Then it was pushed back to Aug. 2, 2019.

Once Disney acquired Fox, the future of the movie was left up in the air. Marvel had to plan Fox's film releases around its own timeline if it were to properly integrate the X-Men and the other Fox mutant heroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While it's unlikely that the New Mutants will be released under the banner of the MCU, we're glad to hear that it has Marvel's blessing.

The New Mutants is set to release on April 3, 2020.
