Former DC editor Dan DiDio recently opened up about the canceled plans for the crossover between Superman and Star Wars.

For decades, we've seen DC collaborate with other properties such as Star Trek, Archie Comics, and even Marvel for special crossover issues where their respective characters team up for an adventure.

Several years ago, there were plans for DC's Superman to crossover with Star Wars which would have excited a lot of fans of both properties. Unfortunately, the plans fell through and the idea was permanently shelved.

In his recent appearance at the Tampa Bay Comic Convention, DiDio explained why they decided to cancel the planned crossover between Superman and Star Wars.

He admitted that there were creative differences during the development and he felt that it "wasn't worth it" to push through with the idea.

"I was brought a DC Universe and Star Wars crossover. There was fighting over what you could and couldn't do, and who gets the better shot, and who gets the hero moment… it wasn't worth it. Honestly, it just wasn't worth it," the former DC editor said.

"The creator who came onboard got really angry because he brokered the deal and brought it to us. I just didn't want to do it at that time, because it didn't make sense."

While it would have been great to see the two properties have a crossover, perhaps it worked out for the best since the story may not have lived up to the potential given how radically different they are.

Despite the cancellation, there is still a possibility that they will revive the idea in the future if someone comes up with a better concept on how they can crossover while both sides will still be satisfied with the results.
