We're only two years away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of the Fantastic Four but bafflingly enough, details surrounding the anticipated reboot have remained quite scarce. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige stated last year that the creatives involved in overseeing the project headed by director Matt Shakman are still busy writing the film's script and until the screenplay is finished, fans can't expect the studio to make casting announcements.
But that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from spinning and over the last couple of months, a who's who of A-listers have been linked to the project. Now, another actor just joined the already stacked list of stars rumored to be in contention for the Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic role.
The moderators of r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers claim that Academy Award nominee Dev Patel is also in the running to play the Smartest Man Alive in the upcoming reboot. As it stands, other details about Patel's potential casting have not been disclosed but The Green Knight actor joins the long list of actors all rumored to be vying for the coveted role, including Adam Driver, Diego Luna, Penn Badgley, and Ryan Gosling.

Assuming the film enters production a year before its release date which is a standard industry practice, it would be safe to assume that Marvel will finally announce the project's cast this year. The studio's status for this year's San Diego Comic-Con remains unclear but that would be the most logical venue for Feige and his team to unveil Earth-616's First Family.
There's also a good chance it could happen at D23 later this year but we still don't know for sure. Hopefully, we'll get some much-needed updates regarding the reboot soon because it's been far too long.
Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot is slated for theatrical release on February 14, 2025.
