Fantastic Beasts 3 Shuts Down Filming Due to a Positive COVID-19 Test


Fantastic Beasts 3 was recently reported to have started its production. It created some buzz after actor Johnny Depp's role as Grindelwald was replaced by Mads Mikkelsen which was brought on by Depp's legal battler with Amber Heard. Now, the movie's filming is shutting down after a team member tested positive for a COVID-19 test.

Deadline reported that the filming for Fantastic Beasts 3 which was set in London was paused due to a production member testing positive for the coronavirus. It is currently unknown whether the person is a crew member or if someone in the film's cast was the one who was infected with the virus.

The announcement came from Warner Bros who confirmed the news. Warner Bros' statement said that the confirmed diagnosis came in as a result of the ongoing and required testing for all the production members. The team member is currently isolated and will return as long as it will align with the safety guidelines.

This situation is not the first time that the production for Fantastic Beasts 3 was disrupted in relation to the ongoing pandemic. The movie's initial first day for its principal photography was in March 2020. However, Warner Bros released a mandate to shut down the filming due to the virus. After a long hiatus, Fantastic Beasts 3 resumed its production in September 2020. The recent news delays the filming for the film once again.

Fantastic Beast 3 stars Katherine Waterston, Eddie Redmayne, Dan Fogler, Mads Mikkelsen, Ezra Miller, and Jude Law. The movie is written by J.K. Rowling and Steve Kloves, while the director is David Yates.

The film will arrive in theaters on July 15, 2022.
