There is little doubt that fans are still shocked after Johnny Depp announced his departure from Fantastic Beasts 3. However, it looks like the highly anticipated sequel is moving forward. The studio has just revealed the film's new release date in 2022.

Deadline confirms that Fantastic Beasts 3 has been given a new release date. The news comes after the sequel was taken out of the Warner Bros. schedule last Friday.

So what exactly does this mean? There are speculations that the studio has already found a possible replacement for Depp. Warner Bros. has previously confirmed that the role of Gellert Grindelwald would be recast in Fantastic Beasts 3. However, there hasn't been an official announcement on who will take over the villainous role.

Depp made an official announcement by sharing a letter on his Instagram account. In the letter, it is indicated that he was asked to step down from the project and that he agreed with the studio's decision. Interestingly, Depp also pointed out that he will continue to seek justice.

"The surreal judgement of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal," Depp wrote. "My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time."

Fantastic Beasts 3 has not yet been given an official title. However, the film is now scheduled for release on July 15, 2022.
