Fan Art Stuns As DC Characters Merge With Their Marvel Counterparts

For big superhero fans, seeing DC and Marvel heroes on the same screen would be no less than a delight. With James Gunn now the co-CEO of DC Studios, the long-awaited big-screen crossover might happen if fans push hard enough, and most of them are doing their part by showing off their stunning fanart that can visualize the team-up of the major superhero franchises.

User Lantern Flix took to Instagram to share a new impressive art piece that imagines DC and Marvel characters merged with their counterparts. There are actors who have previously appeared in Marvel and DC projects, so a possible collaboration is not out of the question. The collection includes a mix between Batman and the Moon Knight, The Flash and Quicksilver, and Thanos and Darkseid, among others. Check out the full art here.

Despite having many Marvel and DC crossovers in print, a team-up has yet to grace everyone's screen. The first comic crossover between the big two happened in 1976 through the Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man comic, with Lex Luther and Doc Ock threatening the Earth, so Superman and Spider-Man had to step up to save the day. This started dozens of collaborative efforts between the two comic giants for years to come, all the way until the very last crossover between the Justice League and the Avengers in the fan-favorite JLA/Avengers in 2004.

In 2021, Gunn teased the possibility of onscreen collaboration between the two studios, noting that he had pitched the crossover to both companies, and they seemed interested in making it happen. He said, “I've actually talked about that to the heads of both Marvel and DC, but, you know, it's like, you know, everybody's open to everything, but whether anything would ever happen, who knows? But the idea of being able to bring Marvel and DC together in a movie is, that would be really fun for me.”

To echo DC’s CEO's sentiments, Marvel’s chief Kevin Feige also shared that his answer will always be open and welcoming to these possibilities. “Well, look, my standard answer to things is 'never say never.'” he revealed to ComicBook.

In a realistic lens, the crossover is unlikely to happen this year or after three or five years given that Marvel has already released its line-up until 2026 at SDCC 2022 and DC is currently rebuilding itself under Gunn, which will highlight more of just DC. However, whenever the on-screen collaboration takes place, one thing is for sure: the fans will tune in.
