The Fall of the House of Usher is filled with many mysteries, and one of them involves Annabel Lee, Roderick’s first wife. We see Annabel in flashback scenes, and in the present day, we know that Roderick has a new wife named Juno. So, what happened to Annabel Lee in The Fall of the House of Usher? Here’s what we know.

Who Is Annabel Lee in The Fall of the House of Usher?
Annabel Lee (played by Katie Parker) was Roderick’s first wife and his one true love. She was the mother of Frederick and Tamerlane. Annabel was very supportive of her husband, and she always saw the good in him.
Auguste Dupin believed that Annabel was the only good Usher, and the only reason why he trusted Roderick back then was because of her.
Madeline at first thought that Annabel’s kindness was just an act, but later realized that she was truly a good person.
Unfortunately, Annabel and Roderick’s marriage did not work out, and this was because of Roderick’s actions.

So, What Happened to Annabel Lee?
Annabel Lee likely killed herself. She left Roderick after the latter lied during the trial and betrayed Auguste Dupin.
Annabel believed that Roderick would do the right thing, but instead, he did the opposite by choosing not to expose Fortunato’s wrongdoings.
She then decided to leave Roderick, saying that the man she knew and loved could never do such a thing.
Annabel ended up having custody of Frederick and Tamerlane, but Roderick couldn’t stand that. So, he waited for both of them to grow up and bombed them with money. Frederick and Tamerlane then picked Roderick.
Roderick told Auguste that Annabel “just couldn’t live without them.”
At the funeral of his three children, Roderick sees Annabel’s ghost. Annabel tells him that whenever people ask how he took their children from her, she would respond that "he’s rich."
She then says that their children were too young, and only knew appetite. And so, Annabel thought that Roderick’s wealth was something she couldn’t compete with.
However, Annabel emphasizes that Roderick doesn’t understand what the word rich means. She says that Roderick starved them of affection, and all she sees now is his poverty.
Annabel then says that maybe their children died in their childhoods. When she walks away, the back of her head is seen, and there's a piece of her skull that's missing.
Based on what Roderick told Auguste and what we saw of her at the funeral, Annabel likely committed suicide.
