Netflix's Tudum recently announced that Extraction 3 has officially been greenlighted, with plans to begin filming later this year.

Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, and Golshifteh Farahani are confirmed to reprise their roles from the previous films. Sam Hargrave, who directed the first two films, is also back in the director's chair for the new installment.

So far, the plot details regarding the third movie are still under wraps, but fans "can expect nonstop action sequences playing out in locations all around the world." Anthony and Joe Russo's AGBO will produce the project, just like the previous movies.

"It’s incredibly exciting to continue our partnership with Netflix as we further expand the Extraction universe,” said Angela Russo-Otstot, Chief Creative Officer at AGBO, in a statement.

"It is also our privilege to continue the creative collaboration with Sam Hargrave, Chris Hemsworth, and this outstanding team who have built a stellar action franchise that has proven itself a true standout for audiences around the globe."

For now, fans should stay tuned for more details regarding the project in the coming months.

Are There Extraction Spinoff Projects in the Works?

Aside from the Tyler Rake movies, Netflix is working on a TV series spinoff of Extraction starring Omar Sy, which takes place in the same universe.

Titled Mercenary, Sy plays a soldier for hire who embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must navigate life-or-death choices while confronting his own deep emotional wounds. The series explores the trauma, betrayal, and moral conflicts experienced by characters pushed to the edge.

There is also a Korean spinoff movie that is currently in the works, titled Tygo. It stars Don Lee (as the titular character), Lee Jin-uk, and Lisa of Blackpink. It follows Tygo, a former child soldier turned mercenary, who gets revenge on Korea’s underworld after a mission gone wrong.
