Is We Were the Lucky Ones Based on a True Story?
We Were the Lucky Ones is a limited series based on one of the most traumatic events of history, the Holocaust.
The story was based on the New York Times best-selling novel written by Georgia Hunter, who chronicled the struggle her Jewish family went through during WWII and the Holocaust.
As Hunter wrote the book, she went through the history of her family. One of the things she unearthed was the discovery of Felicia (played by Artemisia Pagliano), who was less than a year old during Hitler's invasion of Poland.
Felicia recounted to Hunter that her mother bribed an officer with her wedding ring so she could save herself and members of Hunter's family, one of which included Bella, played by Eva Feiler in We Were the Lucky Ones.
Who is Bella in We Were the Lucky Ones?
Jakob Kurc (played by Amit Rahav) is one of the siblings of Addy (played by Logan Lerman) and Halina (played by Joey King). He, along with Genec (played by Henry Lloyd-Hughes) and Selim (played by Michael Aloni), joined the Polish Army.
However, they are quickly defeated, which leads them to relocate to Warsaw with their wives. Even though Jewish ceremonies and traditions have been forbidden, Jakob was able to marry his girlfriend, Bella.
When they get to Warsaw, they are able to find jobs and pretend to be Christians. Later in the novel, the family gathers at Addy's home in Rio. The only ones who weren't present were Jakob and Bella, who had emigrated to the United States.
Who is Eva Feiler from We Were the Lucky Ones?
We Were the Lucky Ones isn't Feiler's first TV series. She is famous for her portrayal of young Margaret Thatcher in The Crown. She also starred in Valorant, Othello, Urban Legends, and many more.
