Eternals Star Gemma Chan Says Marvel Owns Her For Life

Marvel Studios had a pretty incredible and not to mention profitable 2021 despite the fact that we're still under the clutches of a global pandemic. However, not everything was a hit and one Marvel Cinematic Universe project seemingly failed to click with its audience and critics and it's none other than Eternals. It still amassed an impressive 401 million at the global box office, all things considered, but the film still ended up becoming one of the poorly-reviewed blockbusters of last year.

As it stands, we still don't know if Marvel Studios will actually green light a sequel but one of the film's lead actors is offering a promising update regarding her future involvement in the billion-dollar franchise. Gemma Chan, who played Sersi in the MCU epic recently spoke with W Magazine to talk about her time working on Eternals and what the future holds for the Celestials, most especially her fan-favorite character.

When asked if she will play Sersi again, the Captain Marvel star jokingly said that she'll continue playing the role because Marvel pretty much owns them for life.

Gemma was obviously referencing the fact that most Marvel actors are tied to multi-picture deals which require them to stick around in the franchise for a long period of time. We're not sure what's next for the Eternals but the film's "underwhelming" performance may lead to some serious creative changes for the MCU's newest set of cosmic heroes. I'd like to believe that Eternals 2 will still happen and I'm pretty sure Marvel Studios is determined to redeem itself.

Eternals will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting tomorrow, January 12.
