Endeavour Season 8 will premiere on PBS in June 2022. The series is a prequel to the long-running television series Inspector Morse.
What to expect in Endeavour Season 8
Endeavour Season 8 takes place in 1971, with the team of Oxford detectives investigating the IRA, the murder of a cab driver, and the murder of a college fellow. Morse also battles his personal demons, and his coworkers question if he's passed the point of no return.

Three two-hour episodes make up the new season.
A murder at an Oxford institution has far-reaching political ramifications in Episode 1, titled Striker. Meanwhile, Morse is tasked with protecting the life of a popular football team's key player. (According to The Guardian, this episode references a real-life death threat received by Manchester United player George Best.)
A cab driver is found slain in his car outside of Oxford in Episode 2, Scherzo. Morse receives a visitor who reminds him of something horrible from his past as the inquiry takes an unexpected turn.
The team is called to investigate the death of an Oxford don in Episode 3, Terminus, and Thursday receives news that causes strain at home.
Endeavour Season 8 premiere date
Endeavour's last episodes aired in the summer of 2020. After an almost two-year break, the period mystery returns to Masterpiece on PBS. Endeavour Season 8 premieres on Sunday, June 19 at 9 p.m. ET.
Shaun Evans as Endeavour Morse, Roger Allam as Fred Thursday, and Anton Lesser as Reginald Bright will all reprise their roles.
Will this be Endeavour's final season?
Endeavour Season 8 boosts the series' overall episode count to 33. That's the same as the original Inspector Morse series and the Morse offshoot Lewis. As a result, some viewers are wondering if Endeavour has reached its apex, with each show peaking at the same amount of episodes.
There has been no official word on whether Endeavour will return for a ninth season.
“I don’t want to be coy,” Evans told The Guardian. “But we’d want to see how these three films are received, then decide whether we feel there might be more to do.”
Allam, Evans' co-star, was more enthusiastic about the possibility of future episodes.

“I would be very surprised if there weren’t a few more to wrap things up,” he said.
