Emma Stone Reportedly Almost Nabbed Major MCU Role

A lot of fans are looking forward to the casting announcement of the MCU reboot of Fantastic Four. So far, Marvel Studios remains mum about it, but various names are already being thrown online who are rumored to be in contention to play the First Family.

For the past couple of weeks, we've been hearing about a couple of alleged actresses who are rumored to be in talks to play Sue Storm, who is reportedly going to be the film's standout character amongst the core four.

Actresses such as Margot Robbie, Mila Kunis, Jodie Comer, and Vanessa Kirby are reportedly in contention to play the MCU's Invisible Woman. However, it looks like none of them were the studio's first choice as they reportedly first reached out to an Oscar winner to play the role.

According to reporter Jeff Sneider from The Hot Mic podcast, Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone was offered the role of Sue Storm in Fantastic Four, but she ended up turning it down.

Sneider explained that the Oscar winner was Marvel Studios' first choice to play the MCU's Sue Storm as they are eyeing an A-list actress for the role. Unfortunately, negotiations fell through as she asked for too much money.

If Stone did join the film, it would not have been her first foray into the comic book world since she previously played Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man films with Andrew Garfield.

This is certainly interesting news to hear since it just proves the fact that we've been hearing around that Sue Storm is Marvel Studios' top priority as they are casting the film and they are indeed approaching well-known actresses to play the role.

However, as Sneider pointed out, there is still a chance that Marvel Studios will circle back to Stone if they are struggling to cast the role so it still does not close the door for the Oscar winner to join the MCU.

We should be hearing more updates about Fantastic Four's casting in the coming months as they are reportedly planning to announce the cast during the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.
