Emily Blunt is among the fan-favorites to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe but after several attempts from Marvel Studios, scheduling conflicts ultimately prevented the star of A Quiet Place to commit full-time to the franchise. Most fans are aware that Blunt has been approached on a number of occasions by Marvel for projects like Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger but their negotiations never went anywhere. Now, in a stunning revelation, the British actress is criticizing the overexposure of the superhero genre in film and television.

In a recent interview on The Howard Stern Show, Blunt admitted that superhero movies may not be for her after all. She also pointed out how the genre which has been going strong for over a decade now has been "exhausted" and that she's really not into it. She said: "It's not that it's beneath me. I love Iron Man and when I got offered Black Widow. I was obsessed with Iron Man. I wanted to work with Robert Downey Jr., it would've been amazing. But I don't know if superhero movies are for me. They're not up my alley. I don't like them. I really don't. It's been exhausted."

However, Blunt stated that she'd still be willing to take on a superhero role in the future but she doesn't want to play a character that doesn't appeal to her standards. She added: "It's been exhausted. We are inundated, it's not only all the movies, but it's also the endless TV shows as well. It's not to say that I'd never want to play one, it would just have to be something so cool and like a really cool character, and then I'd be interested."

I don't know about you but her statements clearly indicate that she's really not interested in joining either the Marvel or DC film franchises which is a shame considering she's a fantastic actress who would give a comic book role justice. On the flip side, I do admire her bravery in pointing out what she thinks is wrong in the current film and TV landscape, something that not everyone in the industry has the guts to admit.

Emily Blunt is the fan favorite to play Susan Storm in the MCU's Fantastic Four reboot.
