In Edens ZeroEpisode 25, Someone to Love, Shiki surprises Kurenai by combining his powers with her Dragoon's missiles and he destroys the mech which eventually led to the capture of Kurenai. When Nino deactivated the robot army, Shiki and Paul left Homura the decision on how Kurenai would be punished. While she tried to win Homura to her side, she failed when she did not recognize a doll she gifted to Homura.

Homura realized how fake Kurenai was, how disinterested she was in taking care of her. Homura acknowledges that her mother is Valkyrie and not Kurenai, leading to her exile and assault from a previous victim of her, one she used to disfigure.

Shiki and the rest of the team left Valkyrie enshrined on Sun Jewel. Witch and Sister were on the ship and they were arguing whether they could recreate Valkyrie but the group has already accepted her demise. With that, Homura stood up and offered to fill in the shoes Valkyrie left with the Four Shining Stars and the android welcomed her to the group.

They are far from discovering where Mother, the cosmic goddess, is, and with that goal from the beginning, it is something that could not just be taken off of the show.
