The ending of Duty After School K-Drama did not sit well with some fans, particularly those who read the webtoon. But will there be a Duty After School Season 2? Here's what we know at this point.
Has Duty After School Been Renewed for Season 2?
The first season of Duty After School was split up into two parts. The first part was released on March 31, 2023, and the second came out on April 21, 2023.
Although there were some open-ended questions from the show's ending, the show is pretty much done and over with. It's also important to note that its source material, Duty After School webtoon by Ha Il-kwon, has been completed since 2015.
With this, it's unlikely that the show will get picked up for another season unless the scriptwriters continue the story.
Who Will Return in Duty After School Season 2?
Since there is no announcement yet on whether Duty After School will return for a second season, we cannot completely guess who will return to reprise their roles.
If the show does focus on answering the questions from the show's ending, it's possible that most of the students will be back. But footage from the previous season could also be used.
We hope Lee Soon-won could be back to reprise his role as Won-bin just to answer the hanging questions that avid fans have over the show's ending.
Who Will Be Part of the Crew of Duty After School Season 2?
If Duty After School returns for a second season, the members of the crew of the first season could return again. This means that the show will be directed by Seong Yong-il with a script written by Yoon Soo.
What Will Duty After School Season 2 Be About?
In the event that Duty After School gets renewed for a second season, the show will likely expand on Chi-yeol's (played by Kim Ki-hae) story and how he mourns for his fallen comrades and friends.
What makes the ending of Duty After School so sad is that it was actually Kook Yeong-su (played by Ahn Do-gyu) who put an end to his classmates' lives and not the alien spheres.
It's possible that if there is a second season, the show will focus on Won-bin (played by Lee Soon-won) and where he has been all this time. The second season could fill in the gaps to answer the questions left behind after watching Duty After School.
If this is the case, Duty After School Season 2 could be part of the same timeline and not the series of events after the war ends.
We will update this post once more information is released.
