Last week, Dragon Ball Super Chapter 84, titled A People's Pride, was released to show fans the continuation of the Granolah the Survivor Arc. After listening to the audio of Bardock's scouter that reveals what happened in Planet Cereal forty years ago, Goku and Vegeta realize that Saiyan pride is not about bearing the sins of the entire race, but simply accepting who they are, giving them the motivation to fight Gas of the Heeter Force. a.k.a. "The Strongest Warrior in the Universe".
Thanks to Monaito, the Saiyan rivals are putting aside their differences again in order to team-up to defeat Gas, and the epic battle featured in the latest chapter features the best Goku-Vegeta team-up yet.
As soon as Gas returns to Planet Cereal to resume his battle against Goku and Vegeta, the two Saiyans decide to fight together, and even Vegeta is enthusiastic for this team-up. They immediately unleash their most powerful forms yet, and this the first time we've seen the perfected Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta fight together, and it's pretty epic.
While Gas is able to evade Goku and Vegeta's initial attacks, and hit them back, it appears that he is struggling to defend himself from their constant attacks. Ultra Ego Vegeta creates a massive ki-ball thanks to his "God of Destruction move", surprising Gas.
Even though that enormous power is not able to take down Gas, it looks like Goku and Vegeta have the upper-hand in the final scene of the chapter that shows Vegeta hitting Gas hard on the face. When Gas asks Vegeta how his body is still moving, the Saiyan Prince tells him that damage is nothing but fuel to him, meaning he's just becoming stronger when he takes more damage.
Although the battle is not over yet, Chapter 84 shows one of the most epic team-ups we've seen in Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou's shonen series, and fans have shared their reactions on Twitter:
"The coolest thing DB has done for this rivalry"
Does Gas even look phased to see Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego together?
No fusion necessary
Vegeta ditched Goku just to get bodied!
This Goku-Vegeta team-up is full of hype!
Who noticed that Vegeta did not even dodge here?
Goku's reaction to Vegeta hitting Gas was definitely one of the best parts.
Well-explained analysis of this epic battle
The next chapter will likely see Vegeta punishing Gas, but Gas might still have more tricks in his sleeve. Some fans are speculating that Goku and Vegeta will eventually fuse, but seeing them team-up without fusing in Chapter 84 highlights the individual strengths of Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego.
