The latest episode of Pokémon Horizons introduced a brand-new Poké Ball! While the show doesn’t explore its details, the unique item has caught viewers’ attention and made them wonder about its special traits.
Pokémon Horizons isn’t shy about bringing fresh twists to the beloved franchise. The series places a strong emphasis on its characters and key items, and recently, it revealed a mysterious Poké Ball connected to the
show’s main antagonist.
Here’s what we know so far about this intriguing new addition.
Did Pokémon Just Introduce a New Type of Poké Ball?

Episode 75 of Pokémon Horizons takes us back a century, seen through the eyes of Rystal. In this flashback, we meet a younger version of Rystal, joined by Lucius, Gibeon, as they set out on a shared journey to Rakua, a place where Legendary Pokémon are said to gather.
During Rystal’s recollection, she describes Gibeon as someone Lucius approved of, noting their similarities in many aspects. In one scene, Gibeon holds a mysterious new Poké Ball unfamiliar to viewers and releases a white Zygarde from it.
This moment might have slipped past casual viewers, especially since Pokémon Horizons episodes are released in Japan first, with dubbed versions arriving on Netflix later. However, the X account Pokémon TCG Restocks & News shared a tweet featuring an image of the unusual Poké Ball, drawing significant attention online.
The design of this Poké Ball is unique, featuring detailed cogs and gears that give it a mechanical and industrial appearance. While its abilities remain unknown, its importance is undeniable, especially because of its connection to Gibeon. Fans can look forward to seeing it play a pivotal role in future episodes.
What Are the Speculations Behind This Mysterious Poké Ball?

Poké Balls come in many shapes and forms. Some are rare and offer special catching effects, while others are customized for their aesthetic appeal or unique modifiers.
While we may have to wait to learn more about the new Poké Ball, fans have already started speculating about its possible appearances in other media.
Notably, this Poké Ball resembles the adventurer Lucius’ Ancient Poké Ball, which contains the black Rayquaza. It also shares design similarities with the craftable Poké Balls from Pokémon Legends: Arceus, though it appears to have a more modern design. Many believe it could feature in the upcoming game Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Scheduled for release in 2025, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set in Lumiose City, a location undergoing an urban redevelopment project, a stark contrast to the rural settings of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Since the Pokémon anime often teases elements that later appear in games, some fans have theorized that this mysterious Poké Ball might make another appearance in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
