Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness New Teaser Seemingly Confirms Rachel McAdams’ Clea MCU Casting

Now that Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness is one month ahead of its theatrical release, fans cant wait to unravel all the rumored appearances from characters across the MCU. The Doctor Strange sequel is set to be the MCU's biggest crossover film, surpassing last year's Spiderman: No Way Home's three-generation Peter Parker reunion and Avengers: Endgame. Now, a recent teaser just confirmed another major rumored character's introduction.

Rachel McAdams will reprise her role as Christine Palmer, and according to the actress in her last interview with Empire, "I wasn't just wearing scrubs this time around. I was certainly part of things I've never seen on screen," which clearly hints that McAdams will play a more prominent role in the sequel compared to 2016's Doctor Strange, where she barely got a reasonable screen time. Also, in a recent interview with Doctor Strange 2 producer Richie Palmer, the producer confirmed that Christine Palmer and Stephen Strange won't reignite their spark in the upcoming sequel. In the first trailer, Christine was seen getting married but not to Stephen Strange.

Now that McAdams will play a more prominent role aside from Strange's love interest, fans pondered on how she could be relevant for Doctor Strange not just for the sequel, but in the future of the MCU. And that's where rumors sparked that she might be playing Clea in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.

Now, the recent teaser for Doctor Strange 2 might just confirm McAdams as Clea. In the teaser, Palmer was spotted wearing a mysterious uniform in the middle of an apparent emergency, looking totally confused about the situation. In the scene, Ultron bots are spotted running around her, which means she is affiliated with them.

This might be confusing because why would a regular nurse like Christine Palmer do with Ultron bots? Well, we already know that Multiverse of Madness will introduce variants, and the Christine Palmer we saw in this scene is Palmer's variant, which in another universe, goes with the name Clea.

Marvel has already confirmed that Multiverse of Madness will introduce The Illuminatti as the protector of the Multiverse and according to recent leaks, the Illuminatti has 6 vital leaders; led by Professor X, and they also have their followers and Clea is one of them. The leak says that Clea serves as an advisor for Professor X.

This might also be the reason why Christine Palmer was removed in a recent TV spot with Doctor Strange and America Chavez traveling in a different dimension. In the initial scene where Palmer was present, she was also seen wearing the same outfit which means this is not Palmer, but Palmer's variant, Clea.

It would be certainly interesting if Marvel introduce Rachel McAdams as Clea. McAdams is such a renowned actress and casting her in a very insignificant role would be a total waste. It's also time for Marvel actresses to take the spotlight after Thor's Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is confirmed to be Lady Thor in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.

We will see Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer in the highly-anticipated Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, premiering on May 4.
