Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Origins of the Darkhold Explained

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Darkhold has consumed Wanda so much that she became obsessed with doing everything she can to be with her children, Billy and Tommy, that she becomes willing to take America Chavez’s powers and possibly take the life out of the teen in the process.

In the end, Wanda realized that this is the doing of the Darkhold, corrupting her to the core, making her do horrible things, becoming a villain of what once was a hero. She calls the tough shot and decides to bring down the temple of Chthon, where all the original inscriptions of the Darkhold is on the walls of the place, still choosing the right thing to do in the end.

The Darkhold originated from the Dark Dimension where it is said to contain infinite knowledge about the universe. The book itself is made up of Dark matter making it a staple source of Dark magic. It is said that those who get ahold of the Darkhold would be damned or would be one of the most powerful beings with an infinite source of knowledge.

The Darkhold is a book of spells where the reader of the book could take instructions and make their desires come true. Its language is tailored fit to the reader making it decipherable only by the holder itself. The Darkhold holds secrets to creation and harnessing energy. The book itself has the capacity to poison the mind of the reader and make one obsessed with it.

As Wong explained to Wanda, the Darkhold is by Chthon, an ancient being of evil, and the temple where they went is where she was laid to rest. The guardians of the place, however, bowed down to Wanda, possibly feeling that Wanda has been consumed by the Darkhold, thus, being on Chthon’s side.

This means that there is still the possibility that Chthon might arrive in the MCU at any point and be a huge threat but with Wanda gaining knowledge of what to do and whatnot, the evil will definitely have someone who has been through the worst from the Darkhold and stop the demon once and for all.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now in theaters.
