With the Multiverse Saga officially greenlit by Marvel President Kevin Feige at last week's San Diego Comic-Con, our MCU heroes should be gearing up now for their impending adversary, Kang The Conqueror. If they are going against a villain with countless variants in different universes like Kang, they certainly need all the help they could get, primarily someone who possesses a rare ability to jump across universes, and that is no other than America Chavez.
In an interview with Comicbook.com, Xochitl Gomez – who plays America Chavez in the recent MCU milestone Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was asked about who she wants to crossover with in the future. In response, it seems that the young actress wants to be included in Tom Hiddleston's Disney+ Loki series, or any Jonathan Majors' Kang-related projects.
"I hope that America kind of gets to be in a show or a movie with Loki, because I think that could be really fun," Gomez said. "Especially because [of] the comics, I think that could be fun to watch. Also Kang seems like a great villain, and I'm super excited for what he's about to unleash with all of that. Hopefully America will get to be in a Kang-related project. I think that would be really cool."
In another interview with Kirsten Acuna following last week’s SDCC, Gomez hinted at her possible return in the next two Avengers films.
“I wasn’t there, just because I had school finals and stuff that I had to get done," she said. "I was like, ‘Aw man, I really want to go.’ But sadly, I couldn’t make it. But I mean… I think where we… left off, she was at Kamar-Taj. And I think America… she needs to learn some structure and some discipline. But there’s a lot more to unpack with her story and obviously with her powers, she needs to learn more about them, and herself, and also her moms. But I can’t really ignore the fact that her powers are traveling the Multiverse and the next chapter of the MCU is literally the Multiverse Saga… I don’t know.”
While America Chavez's future in the MCU remains unknown, her multiversal abilities would surely be advantageous for the Multiverse Saga, especially if they are going against a formidable villain like Kang. That said, Chavez's future in the franchise might be too certain as her abilities would surely be needed by the Avengers at one point. Sadly, for now, Marvel Studios hasn't yet announced anything regarding Xochitl Gomez's return as America Chavez.
Jonathan Majors will return as Kang The Conqueror in Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania, hitting the big screens on February 17, 2023. Meanwhile, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will arrive in May 2025.
