I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that Sam Raimi is one of the forefathers of modern Marvel cinema and his Spider-Man trilogy pretty much planted the seeds for what was set to become the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is why a lot of fans were thrilled when it was announced that Raimi will be helming the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a film that is said to be Marvel Studios' first horror offering.

Raimi's involvement in the film headlined by the Master of the Mystic Arts and the Scarlet Witch not only marks his triumphant return to the Marvel realm, but it also serves as a full-circle moment for him after Spider-Man 2 made a memorable reference to Doctor Strange.

However, all excitement aside, Raimi is now offering a worrying update about the project which reportedly underwent extensive reshoots. Speaking with Variety, the acclaimed horror director was asked for an update regarding the film's post-production status. Shockingly enough, while Raimi confirmed that they're done filming, he remains uncertain about the film's final cut.

He said: "I wish I knew the answer to that question. I think we’re done, but we just cut everything. We’re just starting to test the picture and we’ll find out if there’s anything that’s got to be picked up. If something’s unclear or another improvement I can make in this short amount of time left, I’ll do it. One thing I know about the Marvel team is they won’t stop. They’ll keep pushing it until it’s as close to being great as it could."

Realistically, Raimi and company still have plenty of time to work on the film before its theatrical release. It's safe to say that he's experiencing a ton of pressure right now which is completely understandable considering his last Marvel outing failed to hit the mark with audiences. I'm pretty confident though that Raimi will pull this one off.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits cinemas on May 6, 2022.
