Doctor Strange 2: Anson Mount Reveals Shocking Details About the Filming of Illuminati Scenes

One of the highlights of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the appearance of the Earth-838's Illuminati where we see the cameo appearances of Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Reed Richards (John Krasinski), Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), and Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell). While they only showed up for a short amount of time, fans were still delighted to see them briefly in action during the moment.

However, during a recent interview with Esquire, Mount revealed a shocking detail about the behind-the-scenes of the Illuminati scenes. When asked if he was able to interact with his fellow Star Trek actor Stewart during filming, he revealed that he wasn't actually in the same room with the other actors when he was on the set.

"No, he was actually not there! [laughs] He was shooting Picard," Mount said. "That was a very interesting shoot because my role came up in the reshoots. As you can imagine, several of the actors were quite busy. Patrick was not there. Chiwetel [Ejiofor] was not there. Krasinski's contract wasn't even done. He wasn't there.

He continued, "We had actors playing those roles, knowing that they were going to either be substituting their shots or transplanting faces. I've never done anything quite like that, and I was in disbelief of how well it cut together."

It is surprising to hear that the actors who played the Illuminati members didn't shoot their scenes at the same time which also just shows the wonderful work that the VFX team did on the film since it didn't look like it was the case when we watched it and everything looked so seamless.

This isn't the first time that an MCU project has shot a scene involving an ensemble that doesn't have all the actors in the same room together during filming. Obviously, they were dealing with the scheduling of the actors which is why it led to this. At the end of the day, all that matters is the final result and we can definitely say that the movie magic really worked.
