What is Doctor Slump Kdrama About?
Doctor Slump is a Kdrama on Netflix that follows two former rivals who meet at the lowest time of their careers.
The first character we meet is Nam Ha-Neul (played by Park Shin-Hye), an anesthesiologist who is suffering from burnout from her career.
But because she is a people pleaser, she doesn't know when to quit--even if that means getting verbal abuse from her professor.
When she finally gets a diagnosis, she is in denial and refuses to believe that a doctor like her can get depression. Shortly after, she comes to terms with her condition and starts seeking help.
The first thing she does is to learn to finally stand up for herself. She quits her job at the hospital and does not accept her professor's abuse.
After quitting, she starts to hang out with her former school rival, Yeo Jeong-Woo (played by Park Hyung-Sik), who found himself renting the rooftop pad owned by Ha-Neul's family.
Jeong-Woo is also a doctor dealing with a huge legal mess. After one of his plastic surgery patients died during an operation, Jeong-Woo is being sued for medical malpractice and neglect.
Even though he is innocent, the lawsuit has stripped him of everything-- his finances, friends, home, and clinic. He has to prove he is innocent if he wants to continue practicing his profession.
Although the two were once enemies in school, their current predicaments in their careers have brought them closer than ever. And it is through each other's support that they find healing in this slump.
