Disney's Peter Pan Remake Casts Grown-ish Star Yara Shahidi as Tinkerbell

The upcoming live-action remake of Peter Pan has just found its Tinkerbell. Grown-ish star Yara Shahidi has been cast as Peter's spunky little fairy in the new Disney film.

According to Deadline, sources have confirmed that Shahidi will play Tinkerbell in Peter Pan and Wendy. It is also noted that Shahidi will be the first actor of color to play the pixie that is traditionally depicted as a white person (or fairy).

Shahidi's casting news came just a little over a year after it was announced that her Grown-ish co-star Halle Bailey was confirmed to play Ariel in the live-action remake of Little Mermaid. Needless to say, the cast of the Freeform series have a lot to celebrate this year.

Shahidi will join Jude Law, who has been cast as Captain Hook. Peter and Wendy will be played by Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson. The film, which will be directed by David Lowery, who is co-writing the script with Toby Halbrooks.

First of all, I have completely forgotten that Disney is still planning to do another live-action remake of another animated classic. Secondly, I'm not sure if there is anything new that the studio can offer to the story of Peter Pan, which has been adapted so many times over the past decades. Nevertheless, Shahidi is always fun to watch and we can't wait to see her in action again soon.

Peter Pan and Wendy has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
